TV Advertising doesn't have to be expensive:

There is a common misconception that advertising on TV has to be expensive; this is far from the truth and really depends on the brief and the objectives that you have as a business. We at The TV Advertising Agency have built TV campaigns for many clients who have had budgets ranging from £10,000 right up into the millions and each of these clients has seen fantastic results as a consequence of our effective and insightful TV planning and buying.

The main costs of advertising on TV come from 2 main areas:

TV Production

Depending on the message and your objectives, everyone will have different ideas about the creative execution for your TV advert and how much money needs to be spent on it. Some clients will want to create an ad that drives response and is rich in information, others will want a more creative execution with high production values that will help to build their brand image or drive sales.

Whatever the objectives, our experienced creative and production team will work to create the perfect ad for you and one that will produce the best possible ROI. We won’t recommend spending the earth on the creative if it’s not needed and by the same token we do we stint on producing the best work possible and making every penny of your budget go as far as possible. Our team have great relationships in the industry and are able to source the best equipment, locations and talent at the lowest possible cost for our clients.

TV Advertising Spend – Media Cost

Once you have your creative copy the next cost is that of actually putting it on air for your audience to see. TV advertising space is traded in TVRs (Television Ratings) which express the number of people watching at that time. The costs of advertising on TV can actually be a lot more efficient than other media types as you only pay for the people that see your ad, minimizing wastage.

TV advertising space is usually traded using a CPT (Cost per Thousand) which refers to the cost of 1000 people seeing your advert. That cost will vary dependent on supply (number of people watching that channel) and demand (advertising revenue for that channel) which means that it can fluctuate hugely by channel and broadcaster due to any number of factors e.g. seasonality, whether, economic climate, competition in the market etc.

There are many many channels available to advertisers (over 480 in fact) and we’ll help you to establish where your budget can be best spent to hit the audience that you want, where the best CPTs are and what can produce the best ROI for you.

As well as CPTs varying by channel they are also dependant on which audience is being bought, a broad audiences such as “All Adults” is relatively cheap to buy as the supply of impacts is high, however if you wish to target and buy “ABC1 Men aged 16-34” then the CPT will be largely increased as this is a more niche and sought after audience. This does mean however that for advertisers wishing to drive response and achieve a low CPA (Cost per Acquisition) that we are able to target audiences very effectively and it’s why TV is widely acknowledged to be a fantastic direct response medium. See this study from Thinkbox for an interesting view on TV as a direct response medium.

There are some other aspects that will affect the costs of TV advertising, such as regionality, depending on the channels you can chose to just buy one or several regions in the UK such as London or the North East etc. Also the time length of your commercial, the standard time length is 30 seconds in TV, however any time length can be bought ranging from 5 seconds up to 60 seconds and sometimes even more.

At The TV Advertising Agency we’ll use our wealth of experience in TV media buying and planning to produce the best schedule for your business whatever your objectives, whether they are to build frequency among your key target market through repetitive targeting or maximising the reach of your message to make sure that as many people as possible hear what you have to say. We’ll guide you through every aspect relating to costs of TV advertising and make sure that your campaign produces the best possible ROI.
